How It Works
- Choose a skill from the skill ladder, or pick your own sounds if you follow a different scope and sequence.
- Mark the heart words your students already know.
- Paste your text. A decodable book page, a worksheet, or a story you wrote all work.
- Read the score, then check the list of flagged words and what each one needs.
FAQs
- It looks squished. What can I do? This tool works best on a desktop, laptop, or tablet. Try a device with a larger screen.
- Why is a name or word listed as “Not in the word bank”?
The checker only judges words it knows sound by sound. Names, rare words, and typos land in their own list so you can look them over yourself. - A word is flagged, but my students know it. What do I do?
If it’s a heart word, tap “Students know it by heart” and it will count as readable. You can also add more heart words in the panel on the left. - Do I need to log in? No account is required to use the tool on this page.
